Recently on one of my selling venues I have noticed a lot of discontentment in regards to finding a spot on the selling list. Constant complaints of too many artists...not enough customers....no one can find us.... too much "bad art" (this one has heavy eye rolling) Also...not directed at anyone in particular....here is a suggestion..how about change your attitude. Like attracts like, if your not familiar with this saying it means what you think about, you create in your life. Its simple science really, if you constantly tell yourself the market is saturated, you cant sell with so many artists, no one can find me...negative...negative..etc.etc..etc then that is what you create for yourself..how can it be any different. You know what your good at, your work is good, bad, ugly or beautiful. But its yours.. own it! There are millions of people on the planet, find the ones that love your work and will buy it. Have your own website and list on market places, galleries, write on blogs, your blog and other peoples. Create links and let people know why it is better to buy from you. Tell stories with your art, let your customers into your world. Are you funny, make them laugh. Are you a romantic, make them swoon. Are you a dreamer, let them dream with you. Best advice..Fall in love with your work and then everyone else will! How do I know this because it worked for me and I wrote a book about it.(soon to be released..insert very happy face).
When I started out... no one helped me and I mean no one. It was a sharp learning curve but I found a way and in my book I will show you the path that I took and I am still on.. walk with me a little while.. I invite you to share my journey and discover how easy, fun and rewarding it can be with just a few changes.
With much Gratitude
Ok this is got to be my favorite so far, I enjoyed painting this piece so very much! I was kind of disappointed when I was finished. Titled, "Radiance" created with acrylic colors on a 24x48x.75 inch canvas. Finishing with an art varnish, protects it from moisture, UV and dust and it also adds to a stained glass appeal. A large painting perfect for the dining room, living room or office lobby.
Our Chemical Reaction
My painting of the day is this burst of color on this 12x36 canvas. I imagined what happens when two people meet, the chemical reaction. How it may look on the inside, you know... that person that gives you that wow feeling.. makes your heart beat a little faster. I think this is how it was when I met my husband and still feel today. Ahhh amore!
This painting titled, Mosaic Daybreak was created on a 24x24 piece of birch wood. In continuing with the series of paintings on wood. Using wood as my canvas and definitely been very enjoyable. As I have mentioned it is much for forgiving then material canvas. It reminds me of how much I miss painting on tabletops. Round table tops were always my favorite in creating painted mosaic designs. I may have to scout around and find a table or two. Anyways with this piece I was drawn to the violet colors and love the stained glass appeal. I finished it with a water proof varnish so it can be outdoors but sheltered from any harsh weather conditions. My feed back on this painting has gone over very well and I plan to make one more in this size but haven't decided on a style yet. For more details just click on the picture and will take you to the listing. I'm off to paint have a great night.
